The village of Barbon is situated between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. It is ideal for walking the many footpaths and bridleways over Barbon Fell and Dentdale.

The nearby river Lune is well stocked with fine salmon, and there is golf at Kirkby Lonsdale's 18 hole championship course only half a mile away.
